were in the liquor business. After completing his double
graduation from Sydenham College, it seemed only natural
for Jimmy to follow the calling of his predecessors, as
he had much to learn from their experience.
It was
in 1954, that the Chogyal of Sikkim invited Jimmy to set
up a distillery, and the rest is history. An
enterprising businessman, he brought prosperity to the
Company.
Sam
E. Mehta
Sam E.
Mehta was born on 11th November 1930.
He completed his formal education at 22, in MA and LLB.
After his education, Sam served as a Sales Executive for
Godrej & Boyce. At 24, he joined Sikkim Distilleries
as General Manager - very challenging job. He was
appointed Managing Director in 1977, wherein; he looked
after the healthy growth of the Company till March 1983,
when he retired.
Dadi
Contractor
The
late Mr. Dadi Contractor was born on 25th
June 1932. He was a B.Sc graduate with an education in
alcohol technology that enabled him to go deep into the
scientific aspect of making and blending alcohol
products. Dadi started off serving in the technical
department at Sikkim Distilleries Ltd. From a position
of Chief Chemist, he rose to the post of General
Manager. He was appointed as Managing Director on Sam’s
retirement in 1983, and served the Distillery dutifully
until he expired on 18th December 1989.
Marzban
N Parekh
Marzban N Parekh, took over as MD in 1989. An engineering graduate from IIT Bombay, he also completed his studies in Administrative Management and General Management. He joined as an Assistant Manager in 1976 and became the youngest Managing Director at the age of 39 years. He has since retired.
KANWAR ONKAR SINGH
Kanwar Onkar Singh a member of the Royal family, and a well established
business person of the liquor trade, has purchased the shares of the
Entrepreneur group in January 2006 and is the MANAGING DIRECTOR of
the Company. He has taken over the helm of the company from August 2006.
